Summary: Research on regional studies in archaeology has accelerated in the past 20 years and changed the archaeological discourse in a fundamental way. This recent perspective influenced the archaeological perception favorably in terms of evaluating the settlements with a holistic view, assessment of central places with their rural territories that cannot be separated from each other. The idea of organizing a symposium on this subject comes from our belief in the importance of removing ourselves of the understanding resulting from handling the settlement in Anatolian archeology for a long period of time, stripped from its dynamics and our belief in the importance of presenting new researches.
